It's A Matter Of Getting Used To

Backtracking, the past two months has been the worst and the best of my life. But, as Barry Manilow's song says "I've made it through the rain." Life goes on.

I have been sleeping late but not because I am scrapbooking. I have been attending meetings left and right. Being in a new place is no joke, I have to study their processes and procedures. I am so used to my lawless ways that's why it is such a big change for me. Last time I can do things my way, but now, before I do things, I have to ask questions and make sure that I am not stepping toes nor ideals. Then, there's the differences in time zone. I get to talk to my Hungarian colleagues by 245PM (Singapore time) but I have to lugged my notebook from JE to Serangoon if I want to ask questions (online) to my US colleagues (around 10PM Singapore time). Tiring, Exciting and Scary. That's the mixed emotions running through me. But, I am not complaining (yet hahaha).

The bus ride is long and sometimes there will be a jam around Toa Payoh, so near yet so far. But, I get to arrive before 8pm so it's just in time for dinner.

As the blog title says, it's just a matter of getting used to. Though by time I am already used to this route, our current lease will expire and we would be moving to a new place (the new rent price is so high that I wanted to laugh out loud when my landlady informed --- $3000!!!) and I have to take another route. But, it's ok for me to experience traffic jams and long travel times, but come September, Dawter T will be the one travelling from our new home to her school. I pray that she will be able to adjust well.

To celebrate new beginnings, one lucky person will be chosen to receive a RAK. All are welcome (local and international) to leave a note in this post about what you usually do when you are in a long bus ride and stucked in a traffic jam. Thank you very much for indulging me!

medyo tricky to, it has been a while since I had a long bus ride, besides sleeping... d ako pede magbasa kc byahilo ako for sure, so I usually think of something I would like to write in my blog or the layouts I want to scrap, it would be useful to have a notebook at hand so I can jot down ideas or even create a sketch. O dba thinking like a scrapper tlga ;)
otherwise I tinker with my cellphone, reading and clearing my messages, sounds boring pa din hehehe

let's see...i do the following on my train ride to work: listen to my ipod, read books/magazines, i journal, i talk on the phone. sometimes i write down ideas i have or things i want to do in the immediate and distant future...which is by far my favorite...but sometimes, it's nice to just be still. it's the only time of my day that's really just mine so i really treasure it. sometimes i just look out the window and think and sometimes, i don't even think...i just look. it's a nice break from the constant thinking of what's next...

mmm...if i get to sit...most likely I will sleep LOL. If standing i will read pocketbook/magazine, listen to my ipod, think of things I wasn't able to to, things I need to do, I want to do...aaarghh that's why I opt to sleep...need to give all my neurons a break LOL

I observe. I look at people. But most of the time I look outside. I let my thoughts wander off. There was this one time, I saw the most beautiful sunset I've ever seen in my entire life. Hues of orange, yellow, blue, lavender, gray and ethereal white. Try looking at the sky sometimes. Do you know that God always paints a masterpiece for us? It was never the same and He always amazes me.

I am such a people watcher when in a train or on a bus. But I must say that I love to read. It seems the time passes so quickly if I have a good book to read. If not I would doodle; sketches for classes that I have to teach or cards that I would like to make!!!

Well, I never experienced a long bus ride on a daily bases. I rode the bus for vacation purposes. I always packed a luggage pack atsaka a "things to do" pack. I have a book, notebook, pen, pencil, small crochet project (that passes time well) and some type of music entertainment. I'm a sketch artist, so I can make do with a notebook and pencil.

1. Enjoy and appreciate the view outside (no other choice if you're stuck in traffic)

2. I pray (no kidding, after a long day's work, i recap what happened during the day and say my Thank You prayer and that i'm going home safely)

3. If done with 1 & 2, last resort is to SLEEP.

No reading nor cellphone as it's not relaxing for me.

Thanks for the coming up with this RAK.

Hmmm... I think the longest bus ride I've been on (which would usually last about 30-45 min) was when I was still living in Khatib and commuting to the city (layo talaga daba?). I would people-watch and guess where they've been or where they're going to. Like if there was a young couple, I'd make a story about them in my head (like they were going on a date or something). If it was an old couple they were coming from a date and going home already (pagod na eh, hehe)... If a cute guy/girl was sitting all alone but suddenly picks up his/her phone coz it rang (or he/she keeps looking at her phone) then either he/she is late for a date... I dunno what it is with me and "dates", ahahaha!!! La lang... I think I just like making up silly stories (No offense to the people! All in my head lang naman). Time flies when I do this and sometimes my story continues the next day with a different set of people. =D
